"The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment." article I, section 2, clause 5 of the u.s. constitution_____________________the house impeaches but they do not adjudicate the trial...that is up to the senate and if those scoundrels convict it would be the biggest legal news since georgi dimitrov was acquitted by the nazis for complicity in the reichstag fire in 1933...weirder things have happened...possible but not tremendously probable...between lindsey grahm's example of esculpatory pre-judgement and mitch mcconnell vowing a "speedy trial"...so speedy there will be no witnesses and not time for measured assessment...just a vote along party lines and acquittal and a second term...the yahoos will bray...the liberals will wail...the evangelicals will thank god...and the rich will continue to get richer...the kleptocracy will be reaffirmed and people who have a keen eye for human nature and the study of the political system as it is rather than the high school civics version with it's "will of the people" and it s happy endings will be validated if still in the same miserable boat as everyone else...the system aint broke...it is designed to negate the "will of the people" and maintain an elitist control of the hegemonic culture while paying lip service to republican forms...have a look at gibbon and the imperial senate's activities...the pigs are at the trough...dislodging them will not be a simple matter.

this is not a political farce

i have been consciously avoiding the foul political landscape in this tired and frightened country for a number of complicated reasons...mostly because in the emotionally charged atmosphere no one is is listening to anyone anyway...which is lamentable because i am inclined to believe that this is exactly what that entitled self-absorbed clown wants...if we are busily spending our time arguing and threatening one another we are not going to have the time to look even remotely closely at the corrupt kleptocracy this wannabe authoritarian is running out of the white house..nixon was paranoid but he wasn't corrupt ( and if you know me you realize what a stretch it is for me to make even the slightest positive statement about tricky dick )...this plutocrat is as venal as they come...der fur hair has never been presidential...how could he? he clearly was never socialized as a child...amoral...asocial...sociopathic...the corporate zeitgeist incarnate...corrupt and vile...his latest insults aimed at members of congress over their ethnicity and origins are just another line of evidence of his racist intent and his empowering of racist elements in this country to underpin his authoritarian pretensions...sad angry belittled bewildered frightened people doing what humans do...looking for reasons why and finding all the wrong ones in this ego run riot...this should be a wake up for congress and they should seize the opportunity to kick this fat turd to the political curb...remove the legal protections the presidency confers on his venality...unseal all the indictments...and let him finish his days in detention..or in an ignominious exile in putinville...as impotent and bloated as ferdy marcos in hawaii...unfortunately far too many of the people who should be acting in defiance of this insult to "the people" have no real interest in the people and are involved in trying to take his place...or, at least, insuring their continued presence in the august assembly of whores called congress...the"american century" has been dead for about twenty years now and as we slowly fade into a parody of great brittan this is the sort of "leadership" we can expect...backward looking ( and trumpy is reaching back to lynchings people...he is fucking dangerous ) and indulging in recidivist and/or self interested behaviors reminiscent of "the gilded age"...jay gould...charles tyson yerkes...bathhouse john...hinky dink kenna...everything old is new again...this will not end well.

inclined to parse rather than carefully review

i went to the white house web site this morning and sent a non threatening, two sentence message ( "no wall with my tax dollars. open the government." ) to the trumptard...or, at least, some drone in an executive office building somewhere in whoretown...some time later i received the message above and i am inclined to have a closer look at it...in ideal times and in a naive high school civics version of the government the phrase "carefully reviewing your message" would conjure up a vision of someone intently trying to read the mood of the nation's correspondents and relay those desires to the seat of government...this is, of course, an enduring fantasy for some of the more indoctrinated but actually nothing like the inner workings of power...in an administration with as an authoritarian bent as this lulu i would think they would be looking for sedition ( in fact one supposes that this clown would view the mere act of disagreement as treason...well...fuck him )...all politicians are liars...it goes along with the perceived need to pander to a constituency while placating a larger public...vagueness and the ability to lie through your teeth with a straight face are political essentials...the american people's "willingness to stay informed" has been seriously compromised by a truly orwellian outburst of double think, fake news, and alternate truth that has sought to undermine fact ( we will leave the wholly subjective concept of "truth" out of this discussion please...it does not exist in any pure form ) and alter appearance to fit some bizarre egomaniac's vision of reality...as far as my willingness to "get involved", this blog has been a wholly unilateral expression of personal repugnance for the system which this moron is a symptom, not the cause...that goes back a bit further and has a goodly number of authors..i don't need this yahoo's appreciation either..what i desire is his exit...on his own...with the help of congress ( although i have such little faith in those liars that i think this questionable...but remember who you are dealing with here...still, i notice the heated rhetoric of recent days has simmered own a bit...someone got told to mind their manners...fortunately nancy pelosi exercise no such constraint here )...or, as last resort, in 2020 with an expression of the "will of the people" provided this bozo doesn't suspend the constitution and declare himself "president for life" ( go ahead..laugh...it is not out of the realm of the possible...he has the arrogance and ego..and have a close look at how his approval numbers in the military run )...have i said"fuck these people" recently? it is a mantra.
