i have a fair interest in politics...the wider ideology of corporate governance is of some concern ( or should be ) to all of us because it is a corporate government...madison insured it would be in the hands of wealth and corporate structures have been the legal shield for the sociopaths that control them since jay gould and charles tyson yerkes walked the earth and corporate structures have owned politicians since...there are some outstanding personalities that attract my attention as well...i believe some have been discussed here before...i might have even mentioned the congressman from this district in passing...however he was never on the front burner in editorial terms...fairly low key and nondescript...he survived an ethics investigation a few years back but beyond that ( in comparison ) he has been fairly monochromatic...

so when my mailbox began to fill up with campaign mailings from people who wanted his job i began to wonder...and i will admit that he is so monochromatic that i missed the news tidbit that announced his retirement from the political grind...these things happen...there are louder politicians and larger issues at hand effectively drowning him out...so change is in the air...sort of...because i am left wondering if his replacement will make much of any difference in the general trend of things in the late empire...i am inclined to doubt it ( this should come as no surprise )...mara candelaria reardon doubled up on the mailings today...one from "maria for congress"and another form something called "chc bold pac" which disclaims "not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee"...so someone has an interest in seeing mara elected beyond maria...certainly she has an uncomplicated platform...monochromatic almost...fitting...big on healthcare...okay...it is an issue...it is expensive...it is biased towards wealth ( find me something of import that isn't...you cannot )...it is not equally dispensed...mara will have her hands full with the insurance lobby and i am betting they have more cash than she does...back to that corporate/wealth business again...and one wonders how far that "progressive" will be getting her should she make it to congress...they have a habit of wearing down newcomers until they fit the corporate mold...ask pete... tom's mailing ( "paid for by democratic progress. not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee' ) has a few more planks in the platform beyond echoing maria's healthcare fixation...i have heard a great deal about clean energy in the past twenty years...the post-carbon institute is all for it...bp/ammoco says they are too...with a few provisos and a quid pro quo that will allow them to recoup loses over sunk costs in infrastructure..."lord, make me clean...but not yet" we have to think of the shareholders...again there may be trouble with the lobbyists and they have a way of getting what they want..."by the people, for the people" or not...create high paying jobs? for whom? tom? that's another chestnut that has been kicked around for years...heard all about it as unions have been busted, the "right to work" guaranteed, and the extractive upward redistribution of wealth carried on...someone needs to work out a new script for campaign promises...the old one has so many holes no one believes it anymore...which may be a mechanism the pols are relying on to engender the voter apathy they so love and rely on to keep things manageable...the last thing any politician wants is to have to actually address the needs and wishes of madison's "interested and overbearing majority" ( and, for who knows what number of times, i am going to suggest a close reading of the federalist papers as a primer into why things are they way they are...the system madison, jay, and hamilton laid out aint broke...it is humming away nicely )...let's keep a lid on the rabble by boring them to death with the same, tired rhetoric while we work on BAU with our handlers...that said i will vote on june second...i have voted in every election i have been eligible to since november of 1972 and will continue to do so into my dotage...not because i have a shred of belief in the rigged ponzi scheme that is government...but because it makes the bastards nervous when people turn out...they hate accountability like the plauge.

counterintuitive or rigged game?

i collected yesterday's mail from the mailbox this afternoon when i got home...magazines, and the usual junk mail...and some stuff from the auto insurance people...among the junk was an envelope from "bernie 2020" soliciting funds for "us"...i scanned it and found the usual appeals to liberal sentiments ( why they confuse me with a liberal is a mystery to me...hubert humphrey was a liberal...why would i crawl into that behavioral sump? we are all more complicated than the hegemonic culture realizes...labels are misleading shortcuts )...it wasn't very persuasive...or even entertaining for that matter...

however the disclaimer at the bottom of the last page caught my interest and it holds some insights...

that corporations active in politics ( and since all politics is an extension of economics, find me one that is not..if not publicly , then surreptitiously ) might choose not to donate to sanders is more than understandable...the ideologies are in conflict...at least for public consumption...but prohibited? it is in keeping with the war on unions that unions would be prohibited...the desire is to bankrupt them and drive them out of any position that would allow the amelioration of capital's abuses of workers...from wages to terms and conditions of work which are increasingly authoritarian and thoroughly contravening of constitutionally guaranteed civil rights...but corporations are far more powerful than the government...they own it...i actually qualify to be a donor for old bernie...a lamentable loophole in campaign finance law that will inevitably be closed because i am nothing if not a member of the rabble and a proletarian at that...no good can come of allowing me too much political latitude...ask old alex hamilton about that...or his buddy john jay...or their philosophical godfather john locke...read the fundamental constitutions of carolina locke authored in 1669..it will explain a lot...anyway...i can give bernie up to $2800 a year ( this is unlikely )...however if i give him only $200 they have to report my name, address, occupation, and my fucking employer to the feds? so a quiet letter can be sent to my employer ( who reserves the right to terminate me with or without cause [see what i mean about authoritarian and civil rights?] at any time ) can say "get your sorry socialist commie ass out of here"...and corporations whine about "regulation"...have i said fuck these people today? where is the lake of fire?

it's halloween, and since death is the only sure thing that will put an end to this eternal electioneering ( and how i long for election day to fall on the day of the dead...how unfortunate that is not a possibility) it seems an apropriate time to take a look at the posturing and lame ham acting that the "people's business" generates when the political professionals are forced to press the flesh in order to carry on with their trysting in the swamps...lots of outsider anger this year...especially from the insiders posing as populists...nothing new in that...reagan was posing as an outsider and look what happened during that "revolution"...no reason for such a useful tactic to have been forgotten in the thirty years since bonzo's handler rode tall and flogged gorby for wearing the mark of the beast...the n y times to day says the one accusation that obamaland cannot shake is elitism...what the fuck? they are virtually all representatives of some sort of elite constituency so it's all a matter of perception... i set out to do a bit of research about the roots and particualrly the educational background of our hired guns in whoretown...not alot of surprises in this...a list of law schools as long as your arm and then some and a lot of people in congress who are posing as regular joes and concerned citizens have some interesting pedigrees...let's start with the ivy leaugers and let me say that democratic elis far outnumber republicans in both the house and senate which puts paid to pelosi's "main street" bullshit ( she is not an eli ) there are twenty democratic senators that hail from elitist universities as opposed to five republicans...the house is a bit more lopsided with thiry-five democratic ivy leaugers out-numbering the seven republican five to one...all but two members of congress are university educated to some degree...two members of the house, phil hare of illinois and harry teauge of new mexico have suceeded in being elected on the strength of high school diplomas and they should be returned to their seats as often as they run because they must be the only real outsiders involved in national politics...token plebians or not they offer a much needed balance to the congress...on the whole i would say that the real halloween costumes have been on display since the beginning of the year and i would long for wednesday the third if the image generating machinery of late imperial politics ever took a day off...but it doesn't...the long relentless slide into the presidential race of 2012 and all the real reasons for "why not" sarah palin will begin the day after this noh play grinds to its anticlimax...i have almost given up hope of being delivered from this by the lake of fire or the plauge of politician specific ebola virus carrying scorpions backed up by venom spitting cobras...but it is halloween...and tomorrow is all saints day as well as the day of the dead...surely the whores will go to ground until that blows over...is one day off to much to ask? fuck these people.
