state and national afl-cio

"all workers, whether we're immigrants or native-born, and whether we work for a government or a private company, are unfairly asked to bear the brunt of problems brought on by corporate greed."
manny hermann of the afl-cio in a mass emailing to (i assume) union members

in a startling turn of events the national office of the afl-cio has seemingly realized that they need the support of a broader community and therefore must take steps to actually become part of one...not your dad's union philosphy based on jurisidiction and a set of rules as arcane as anything the masons could come up with...it may be a bit on the late side ( and as another ironic note gmail put ads for rand paul's right to work petition and an ad in support of the uber-whore walker of wisconsin in the margin next to the text of the message...who says google doesn't have a finely honed sense of humor )but it's nice to see someone at the national level has pulled their head out of their ass, even if it's just in time to see the fucking implosion...and as much as i may agree with the expressed sentiment it's obvious that word apparently hasn't trickled down to the indiana afl-cio though...seven out of the last ten emails they've sent me are imploring me to contact my state senator to ask them to vote against hb1216 which will emasculate the common construction wage act, which says that any worker employed on a construction job contracted by the state or a local government will be paid the same wage as a union worker from indiana would be, the idea being that local union workers would be hired over out-of-state labor to keep tax dollars in the state...budget hawks hate that shit...they are also social darwinists who hate working people because the rich bastards that have purchased them have told them that is the thing to do...all this is about from the state afl-cio's viewpoint is keeping unions and their officers and agents in business, since they really don't give a rat's ass about workers except as a source of cash flow ( we have been through the whole af of l , john r. commons "business unionism" thing before) clearly the national office doesn't have a clue what the state office is doing...or they are running interference to make me think that they care...whatever it is it is lame bullshit and entirely too late...the rollback aimed at unions and the wagner act started before fdr's signature on the bill was dry, gained a lot of momentum under the criminal nixon and the most republican of democratic presidents in recent history who is in north korea now playing at statesman...the gipper put the finishing touches on it, and we find ourselves with the lowest per capitia union membership since, probably, 1920...the most organized sector in the country are public workers..it's no mistake that state and local governemnt employees and their unions are the target of the budget hawks' rage...bust them and unions are pretty much dead...i am a dinosaur and wisconsin is the impact crater ( except that rat bastard daniels did it here first)...

i missed the royal wedding...can anyone tell me what happened? i mean did she actually marry into that zoo of a family or did chuck's ears flapping in the spring breeze give her pause to ponder devil genentics? only the aristocracy or the clintons could get away with this.

oil $113+ a barrel...my thirty bucks bought 6.728 gallons of 89 octane gasoline...what recover was that again?

i just read an article online that expressed a hope that a william and kate reign would bring a "more populist" monarchy to england...huh? what could possibly be "populist" about a king and queen and the aristocracy that goes with it? a little less ostentatious in their expressions of conspicuous consumption? no royal infidelities? a kate and bill refigerator in every kitchen and a pint in every fist? how long is this bullshit wedding hangover going to last?...any american citizen who went to london for this should have their passport revoked and anyone who actually got up specifically to watch it live should be subject to a severe irs audit with a tsa grope thrown in as a further insult... this frenzy about those moronic hats and who wore what to where is taking on a worrisome tone...what would old alex hamilton think?
